Bad Feminist

Summary: “I would rather be a bad feminist than no feminist at all,” proclaims author Roxane Gay. Her book of essays challenges the label of feminism as we know it in the U.S. and gives her honest take on multiple themes, among them how to be friends with another woman, the trouble with prince charming, the racism we all carry.

Takeaways: Although it may seem obvious to some, I wish I would’ve bopped around from essay to essay instead of tackling this book cover to cover. After I warmed up to the author’s quirky, tell-it-as-it-is style, I loved this book. Bring your pen, sticky notes, and/or highlighter, because it will leave you with more questions than answers.
